Chapter 6 We are Family (you are not)

"Big Sister, let me go! Daddy will be sad without me!", but Alice's cries fell on a heart of steel. She only cared about bringing her back to where she belonged. "Pappy is gonna hurt Mr. Bubbles isn't he?", her tone was solemn. The suited girl nodded as she continued to leap over debris and slipped through passageways even the oldest splicers didn't know about. "Please don't let Pappy hurt him, he's a good daddy. He loves me.", once again, the Big Sister ignored her pleas. Finally, the Big Sister stopped at a sealed doorway and pressed a button on a near bye keypad. She looked up at the security camera that came out of the ceiling and pointed to Alice. The hydraulic locks on the large door opened, revealing a place that Alice was all too familiar with. Fontaine Futuristics, the place where they experimented with ADAM and now the home of The Family.

Several years ago, the number of Big Daddies was declining rapidly. One of the few remaining humans in Rapture thought that if someone organized and created more Big Daddies, then maybe Rapture could return to its former glory. Jonathan Stanton was the man who had this dream. Rapture rebuilt, Big Daddy police forces, splicer elimination programs, regulation of ADAM, and him at the top. He was a test subject for an experimental plasmid in his youth. They gave him a plasmid designed to severely reduce the aging process but he was the only one who survived it. Being a Colonel back in America, he knew what to do and say to make the existing Big Daddies listen to him and fallow his every command. Now with his own suit, he is nicknamed Grand Daddy by the splicers and he enjoys the name.

The Big Sister walked into the room where there was several Big Daddies, a group of Little Sisters in the corner, and Stanton himself sitting on an iron throne. "Hi Pappy.", mumbled Alice. "Alice, it's good to see you're safe.", he replied. Despite her anger, she watched her tone, "But Daddy was keeping me safe until Big Sister took me away from him." He was confused by this. "Alice, your assigned daddy isn't alive anymore. That's why you were with the splicers." He looked at her missing eye and his hate for splicers stirred inside him. "Yeah but my new daddy is better than the old one." He looked at the Big Sister. She kneeled and said, "There was something out there. It looks like a Big Daddy but I'm sure it isn't one." His false smile for Alice disappeared. "Where is this thing?" "At Pauper's Drop, but I'm not sure if it is still there because it tried fallowing me but was too slow." "I want to see what that thing is and what it can do.", barked the old soldier. "Send a Big Brother Scout after it and record its every move." "Yes sir.", the Big Sister left the room to complete her task.

Stanton set his gaze back to Alice and recreated his fake smile, "Alice, I have a new daddy for you." He motioned his hand and a Rumbler model walked over to them. "He's not my daddy. My daddy has a big claw and shiny skin." Never before has Stanton heard of a Little Sister bond with one specific Big Daddy ,but to make it worse, it wasn't even a Big Daddy at all.  "Fine then, if you don't want a new daddy right now then go play with your sisters." Alice could sense his hidden anger, "Yes Pappy." She sat down in the circle with the other little girls and began to play with their poorly made dolls.

"This is important brother. Pappy will have your head if that thing sees you." Even though that wasn't Stanton's exact words, the Big Sister wanted no screw ups. "Yes sister.", the Big Brother saluted and ran off. Big Brothers are fairly new creations of Stanton's design. Teenage boys were infused with ADAM similar to the Big Daddy process but were given specific suits, weapons, plasmids, and gene tonics made for their profession. Scouts, Snipers, Boxers (melee fighters), Trappers, and Destroyers all grew up to become the next generation of Big Daddies. The Scout checked all his cameras, his motion sensor, and rivet gun before leaving Fontaine's Futuristics. He was interested in seeing his new target and made his way to Pauper's Drop
